Aging

As a clinical social worker who provides outpatient psychotherapy, counseling and coaching services to independent, assisted living and nursing home residents and families, I’ve had the honor of helping families and facilities address the common mental health issues impacting loved ones and patients.

I understand how busy you are as you provide for the many daily needs of your family member or resident.  My expertise lies in working with you to prevent, early identify and treat the common emotional concerns the aging individual faces, as he or she moves through the lifespan.

Addressing an elderly person’s mental health needs isn’t just the right thing to do.  Doing so will enhance their satisfaction and quality of life as well as often prevent further physical and/or mental deterioration.

Here are just a few examples of the types of challenges I have helped clients address…

  • depression, anxiety and/or couple or family distress resulting from the many stresses inherent in ‘aging in place’, such as adjusting to a loss of dignity and independence, coping with the frustrations of nursing home living, or accepting cognitive decline
  • stress associated with the illness of a partner
  • grief or loss resulting from the death or mental decline of a partner
  • diagnosis of a terminal illness
  • preparing for one’s own death
  • encouraging and motivating patients to manage their care, be compliant with care provider recommendations, etc.

If you’d like to know more about how I can help you and/or a family member, feel free to give me a call at 352-347-3577/toll free 866-396-2272.  Or, contact me by email.

Please note that I do not provide emergency or crisis counseling.  If you have an urgent or emergent matter, you need to call your family doctor or 911.
