I want to welcome you to my new site, which is also a blog! I’ll be posting to my blog/site when I have time or interest in what’s happening out there in the world, particularly as it applies to helping you as you cope with what you read and hear. I think my blog will become a very important source of information to you, as what you take in mentally, literally, like what you eat and drink, strongly impacts your mental health.
In addition to your own mental health, how you are in the world of course impacts how you interact with others. It’s like the proverbial stone thrown in the pond. How you are in the world creates a ripple that spreads. Add all the ripples together and you get a tidal wave. I’d like to see more tidal waves of love in this world, rather than hate. How about you???
As you read my posts, you will naturally learn more about me, how I interpret life and reality and how I can be a source of support to you in today’s world. Of course, as I will recommend often, always put what I write through your filter too. Don’t just believe, without questioning, what I say. If I could make one wish come true as a result of writing this blog, it would be to help you become more thoughtful, and compassionate, in terms of how you approach what you read and what you hear.
Perhaps most importantly: I hope to impact how you behave as a result of what you read, hear and think about what you are seeing, hearing, etc. We need more of this combination of rational thinking and compassionate being (and behavior) in today’s world, in my opinion.
As a midlife mental health professional, who has logged in over 20 years of experience helping others, I have particular wisdom to share. For example, I find one of ways I seem to be most helpful to others is sharing my interpretations and perspectives on the ‘issues of the day’, especially as they relate to my understanding of emotional issues, health care, politics, etc. I seem to have a knack for increasing understanding (and hopefully building bridges and compassion) when I ‘assimilate’ and make sense of the myriad of information coming out in the daily news.
Now, more than ever, with the ‘leveling of the playing field’ brought on by the internet and technology, we need experts like myself, who have devoted their careers to studying and practicing in a particular area of life, to critically examine and comment on what is being talked about and shared in the media, social media, etc. The bottom line is this: there seems to be a war going on out there for your heart and your mind. Don’t you want to know who owns you? Don’t you want to choose who and what you believe?
I believe these are critically important topics and, I can’t wait to get going sharing my perspectives with you and, more importantly, having a – living, breathing, exciting, ongoing – conversation with you! So, be sure to comment on my posts. The only rule for posting here is that you must share in a thoughtful, respectful manner.
